At Cancer Research UK, we want to bring forward the day that all cancers are cured. We are the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research and we’re the only charity fighting over 200 different types of cancer; at both a national and regional level, from the most common cancers; such as breast and lung, to rarer types; like pancreatic and children’s cancers.

Our supporters help fund the 4,000 doctors, nurses and research scientists across the UK that develop pioneering new ways to diagnose, treat and cure cancer. Through events like Swimathon, we are able to fundraise for research into cancer which makes us the single largest funder of cancer research in the UK.

Covid-19 has slowed us down. But we will never stop.

1 in 2 people will get cancer during their lifetime. Beating cancer remains our priority.  We need to get through COVID-19 and make sure all people affected by cancer get the treatment they need right now - as well as continuing our vital research needed for the future.

We’re continuing to support people affected by cancer, who need us more than ever during this pandemic. Our nurses’ helpline, Cancer Chat forum, information pages and coronavirus blog post are keeping abreast of the Covid-19 guidance from Public Health England, National Health Service England and the devolved bodies.

We’re monitoring the impact on cancer services and are working with the NHS to make sure that urgent cancer care is continuing. We are absolutely determined to continue our research to create better treatments for tomorrow. But we need your help today.

Our scientists can’t beat cancer alone. They can only continue and restart our vital research with the help of fundraisers, donations and volunteers.

Marie curie 2

Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses workday and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care and emotional support.

Our nine hospices provide round-the-clock, specialist care for people in their local communities. And we offer practical information and emotional support to everyone affected by terminal illness, including family and friends.

Our community nursing services and hospices are relieving pressure on the NHS by keeping people out of hospital beds which are needed for coronavirus patients, and we are also caring for people at the end of life with coronavirus.

We have expanded our free telephone Support Line due to an increase in demand and are now open 7 days a week.
