The 2018 Swimathon Foundation Community Grants Scheme opened on Friday 2 February and is inviting applications from groups and individuals who aim to provide and promote swimming in their local community. The Foundation is a passionate advocate for swimming and the Grants Scheme is part of their effort to bring swimming to as many people as possible.
Ralph Riley, Chairman of The Swimathon Foundation Community Grants Scheme said: “This year the Swimathon Grants Scheme is targeted specifically at supporting schemes that not only increase the number of people swimming but also have the potential to improve health. The unique benefits of water make it the perfect place for people of all ages to exercise, particularly those with long term health conditions. We encourage all individuals and organisations that have swimming promotional schemes that meet the Swimathon grant criteria that they would like to “get off the ground” at their local Swimathon pool to apply for a grant today.”
Swim England are also a proud supporter of the Grants Scheme and in conjunction with The Swimming Trust, they work closely to administer the grants. Grants of between £500 and £2500 are available for organisations supported by pools that are participating in Swimathon 2018. Applications remain open until 5pm on March 19, 2018.
Over the past few years, The Swimathon Foundation has supported many different projects that widen access to swimming and they hope to do so once again in 2018. More information is available at www.swimathonfoundation.org or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
