We are very pleased to announce that our Official Charity Partners returning for Swimathon 2024 are Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, this partnership has raised more than £6 million towards their incredible work and we can’t wait to help raise even more this year!

  • Cancer Research UK is the largest charitable funder of cancer research in the world and will stay at the forefront of the global fight against cancer. 1 in 2 of us will get cancer. All of us can support the research that will beat it.

  • Marie Curie is here for people with any terminal illness, and those close to them – from diagnosis to bereavement. Our nurses and healthcare assistants support families directly across the UK. Our free support line can help with any question about end of life. And we campaign for structural change and fund vital research that improves end of life for everyone.

  • Everyone Active is the UK’s longest-established leisure provider. Formed in 1987, it has just celebrated its 34th successful year in operation. Managing more than 180 leisure facilities across the country in partnership with 55 local authority partners, Everyone Active offers extensive opportunities for people of all abilities to improve their skills and confidence in the water. Everyone Active’s involvement with Swimathon dates back 14 years, during which it has raised considerable funds for charities such as Marie Curie and Sport Relief.

  • KitBrix launched ten years ago with its now-iconic KitBrix bag. The goal was to support athletes and adventurers by taking the organisational strain – the bag is not just robust and protective for your precious equipment, it is also rigged with smart storage tricks. Limitless capacity comes from the unique modular zip system, allowing you to join multiple bags and segment out your gear.

  • BADU is a black led, non-profit organisation that uses sport, education and mentoring as the driving force to empower, educate and uplift young people and their families in the local community.

    BADU use sport, mentoring and physical activity to empower individuals to tackle inequalities that exist across society. BADU are committed to providing opportunities and access for the community across all spaces.

NATIONAL GOVERNING BODIES

  • Scottish Swimming is the National Governing Body for Swimming, Diving, Open Water, Synchronised Swimming and Water Polo in Scotland. Our objectives focus on four key areas:

    Participation – to get more people swimming for leisure, health and fun.

    Development – to improve the delivery of swimming in Scotland through the development of learn to swim, clubs, volunteers, teachers and coaches and community partnerships.

    Performance – to improve the performance results of our Scottish swimmers through coaching and through our continuously evolving performance programme.

    Corporate Services – to lead a cutting edge organisation that supports our development, healthy living, and performance initiatives, including the attraction of resources to invest in our sport.

  • Swim Wales is the National Governing Body for Swimming, Diving, Masters Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Synchronised Swimming and Water Polo in Wales. Swimming is a sport for everyone and we are committed to developing the sport in an inclusive, equitable and fair way. Our vision at Swim Wales is to be ‘A world leading NGB delivering excellence, inspiring our nation to enjoy, participate, learn, and compete in Welsh Swimming’.

    Every day we look to inspire our members & delivery partners in the development of Swimming, providing leadership and expert support, resulting in more people participating in Wales and reaching their full potential.

  • Swim England is the national governing body for swimming in England. It helps people learn how to swim, enjoy the water safely, and compete in all aquatic sports.

    Swim England’s vision is of a nation swimming and it strives to inspire everyone to enjoy the water in the way that suits them. Each month millions of people are able to enjoy swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming, having been through the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme.   • Freedom Leisure is a not-for-profit leisure trust which manages leisure and cultural facilities on behalf of partners across the UK. We are proud to be delivering high quality, locally-focused services and are committed to their ongoing development and to the increase in active participation in our communities.

    Freedom Leisure wholeheartedly recognises the importance of swimming for the nation; as a sport without boundaries, but also fun for all the family as well as a crucial lifesaving skill! For these reasons we are proud that in the last year alone to have facilitated nearly 3 million swims while also teaching over 39.5k individuals to learn to swim.

    We have supported Swimathon every year since starting, accommodating thousands of participants, raising thousands of pounds and supporting thousands of staff to get involved. In 2018 Freedom Leisure proudly won the inaugural Swimathon Corporate Challenge with the biggest participating staff team, swimming the furthest distance and raising the most funds.

  • Better makes community services and spaces better for everyone. And for them, it’s about more than just money. As a charitable social enterprise, Better work for the good of the communities they operate in, with Better people investing time, energy and effort into helping and improving lives through the services they offer.

    Better are the largest operator of public swimming facilities in the UK with over 140 pools, and have supported the Swimathon event for many years.

  • Places Leisure is a leading leisure and wellness partner delivering fitness, sport, health and wellbeing and is driven by its mission ‘to create active places and healthy people’. We primarily work with Local Authorities to deliver the right kinds of health and physical activity outcomes that make a difference to the lives of people and their communities; it’s about more than operating facilities.

    Places Leisure has supported Swimathon for 12 years and over this period, has raised an impressive £1.9 million for charitable causes.

  • Leisure Centre, part of the Parkwood Leisure family a leading leisure management company have over 20 years' experience in the leisure and fitness industry. Having recently secured the UK Water Leisure Operator of the Year award for two years consecutively, they are committed to delivering inclusive sport and fitness as well as a safe environment for all. They've supported Swimathon for a number of years and recent events have seen an impressive £91,000 raised, with over a 1,000 swimmers taking part.

  • Swimathon Foundation is a registered charity, and owns the annual national Swimathon, School Swimathon, Open Water Swimathon and Marathon Swims campaigns. Through the staging of these campaigns, the Foundation encourages members of the public – in their tens of thousands each year – to take part in swimming and to raise vital funds for charity. Its current charity partners are Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK.

    Since its inception, Swimathon has helped raise more than £55 million for a variety of nominated charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, NSPCC, The British Heart Foundation, The Prince’s Trust, Comic Relief, Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK. Governed by a Board of Trustees with a passion for swimming, the Foundation aims not only to support its charity beneficiaries, but also to provide opportunities for as many people as possible to enjoy the benefits swimming brings.

  • SWIMTAG is a training and monitoring platform for swimmers of all abilities. Swimmers can pickup a SWIMTAG wristband at one of their participating pools or sign up using their own smartwatch or compatible device.

    Once you have registered you can login to see your swims, join virtual challenges, compete with other swimmers, track personal bests and much more!

  • Mental Health Swims is a multi award-winning, mental health peer support community group. Mental Health Swims are proud to have a network of more than 140 outdoor peer support groups across the UK and beyond. They are firmly focused on dips, not distance and community, not competition. Over the last two years they have trained more than 350 volunteers to facilitate inclusive, safe and welcoming swim groups.

    Mental Health Swims believe in empowering everyone – people of all skin colours, body shapes, ages, sexualities, genders, backgrounds and abilities to enjoy the healing power of cold, open water swimming.
