6 REASONS TO START YOUR SWIMMING CHALLENGE WITH SWIMATHON

With just over 11 weeks to go until Swimathon 18, training is well underway for our ambassadors. We met with each of them at the London Aquatic Centre to hear more about their reasons and motivations for taking part. These range from taking on an exciting new challenge to raising money for two incredible causes, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.

With distances of 400m, 1.5k, 2.5k and 5k, our ambassadors are inspiring everyone across the UK to take part in Swimathon no matter what your ability.

Are you feeling inspired? Watch the video below to find out more!

Stephen Morrison

"I love swimming, and for some reason I stopped, and I never knew why. I want to take on a new challenge and feel that Swimathon 18 is the perfect opportunity to swim more and raise money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie."

Lorraine Lewis

"I want to achieve a personal goal of being able to swim and hope that it will encourage others that it doesn't matter what your age or ability is, anyone can try and achieve a challenge and learn how to swim."

Cadi Lambert

"I want to learn how to do front crawl properly because I've forgotten how to do it and I daren't go in the pool on my own and try it because I think i'll just flail around and look silly."

Julie Creffield

"I'm currently training for the London marathon and need to do some exercise that isn't running. Swimming is great for that as it's non-weight bearing. It will also be an exciting challenge to improve my technique as I'm a bit of a rubbish swimmer."

Tamsyn Smith

"I am raising money for Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK as they mean a lot to me, as my dad was diagnosed with cancer and unfortunately passed away 17 years ago, but I've never forgotten the support that we got from Marie Curie. It really means a lot to me to raise money with the hope that either people in the future wont have to go what I went through or that we'll be able to support people in that situation."

Wanda Stockdale

"I really enjoy taking part in Swimathon - it's a fabulous event, great atmosphere. Without swimming my life falls apart, my mental health is affected and my arthritis gets worse. It has changed my life and is the best thing that I have ever done for myself.
