How to sign up for Swimathon

Are you interested in signing up for Swimathon, but maybe a bit daunted or confused by the different options?

Then just follow these 3 steps, it’s as easy as 1,2,3!

Step 1: When/where will you take part?

The main Swimathon events take place across 400 venues on the weekend of April 26th - 28th 2024. Most people will choose a Swimathon session at their local venue - you can search for venues and the times of sessions on our venues page. Staff at venues will count your laps and give you your free cap and medal.

If you’re not free on the main weekend, or there isn’t a venue or session time that suits you - no problem…

Then you can choose the MySwimathon option where you can swim wherever you want (including outdoor swimming) any time between 19th April and 5th May. You’ll need to track your own times, but you’ll still get a free cap and medal - you’ll get these before 19th April.

If you book a venue-based session, and need to change it to another venue or session, that shouldn’t be a problem (depending on venue availability)

Step 2: Will you go it alone or as part of a team?

Once you know where and when you can take part, you’ll need to decide whether you’re going it alone as an individual challenge or whether you’d like to take part as a team.

Most people choose the individual challenge (see next step for distance options) but the team options are really popular with swimming groups and schools, families and workplaces where you come together as part of a relay swim.

Step 3: How far can you swim?

If you choose the individual option, you choose your distance: 400metres, 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km, You could also choose a supercharged challenge: the Triple 5k or the 30.9k (which you can spread out - you don’t need to do them in one go!).
This might be the hardest part of signing up, as you don’t know how far you can go - no problem, you can increase or decrease your distance in your personal dashboard after signing up.

For team challenges there are only 2 distance options to choose from: 1.5kms or 5kms.

There you have it, that’s all you need to figure out and you’re good to go and ready to sign up for Swimathon 2024!
